Although Poas volcano is not currently part of our Caravan Costa Rica tour, this post explores a few Poas Volcano facts plus information about sustainable tourism in Costa Rica.

Surrounded by lush tropical rainforests, Poás Volcano in Costa Rica is not only one of this country’s most important protected areas but historically, it has also been one of the country’s most visited tourist attractions.

Poás Volcano actually has two craters and has also become a very popular attraction for international visitors and tourists. Poás Volcano National Park is also just a short scenic drive (within an hour) from the capital, San Jose. Its close proximity attracts a lot of locals as well, who visit the area to escape the city on weekends. Read more

Today, traveling with Caravan Tours, we get to enjoy a guided Rio Frio river cruise up near the Nicaraguan border. Day 1 of Our All Inclusive Caravan Costa Rica Tour

Well, today we begin our Caravan Costa Rica tour and it really is a “natural paradise.” It’s a beautiful sunny day with just a little cloud and about 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 degrees Celsius). Not bad considering when we left Vancouver Canada to take this all inclusive Costa Rica tour it was about minus 3 Celsius (26 F) and we had about 15 or so centimetres of snow (6 inches) on the ground. Things to Do and See at La Fortuna Arenal, Costa Rica

Tortuguero Costa Rica Park, Conservation Area & Village Information

Located in Limon Province just north of Tortuguero National Park on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast is the small village of Tortuguero Costa Rica.

Tortuguero Village relies mainly on tourism and since it is isolated on a strip of land within the Tortuguero canals the village can only be accessed by air or water. There are no cars so the atmosphere is very relaxed and quite pleasing.

Tortuguero Village is surrounded by a series of natural and man-made waterways; in fact, the Tortuguero canals are the primary means of local transportation. Read more
